The end of 1,000 Miles

My name is Neil Gunn and in summer 2003 I decided to run 1,000 miles to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

I started to run on 1st July 2003 and I ran over 6 miles every day until the 1,000 miles was completed on 25th January 2004. My original target was to raise at least £1,000 as a contribution towards their valuable work but that target was soon raised as generous donations came in (click here to sponsor me).

For more information about the work that Cancer Research UK carry out please click here.

I achieved £5000 sponsorship on 2nd December 2003 and still the money keeps coming in. £6,000 was passed on 7th January 2004 & £7,000 on 14th January - the final figure has now exceeded £8,000 (before tax relief). All money donated goes to the charity - you have my promise!

This website has been set up to show the progress I made towards my goal and also to attract sponsorship from people who visit it. I completed the 1,000 Miles at a special event on January 25th 2004 at Macclesfield Leisure Centre - many friends & colleagues joined in and ran with me as I crossed the finishing line - click here to see the photographs from the event.

Thank you for visiting my website and thank you for supporting my 1000 Mile Challenge.
